Sure you can... That is, I could live in a beach town in the Upper Peninsula, too, but I aint. Storms, yes.. Snow, very little if any some years.... Your chances of getting snow inland, say west of I95 are greater as the ocean moderates the climate on the coast. Other than Wilmington, there isnt many cities on the coast, if youre into to that.
